Grinders that run on three different Voltages [Music] We've got two grinders from Metabo HPT They're both multi-volt Grinders Actually they're 36 volt Grinders that Run on the multi-volt battery and Something else it will cover as well but We have the g3612 dvf and the G3615 dvf both of these are paddle Switch Grinders one's a four and a half Inch one is a six inch there's a lot of Similarities but there's a lot of Differences too let's get started These are two Metabo HPT Grinders that Look quite similar and in a lot of Aspects they are similar but there are a Couple of feature differences as well Mainly internally and speeds and and Things like that but we'll go over both Of these and what we have is we have the Four and a half inch grinder and we have The six inch grinder so for the most Part if you look at it it looks like Okay we've got a a bigger guard here and A bigger wheel here and a smaller guard There and a smaller wheel here and from The outside that that's about right but There are some differences internally Whether it be just programming or not But in the speeds and and output of These Grinders now specifically this is The model number uh G 3612dvf and this is the model number

G3615 dvf Now mainly because this would be the 120 Millimeter or four and a half inch and This would be the 150 millimeter or six Inch grinder now we can see here on the Grinder we get whether it's the six inch Or the four and a half inch we have a Tool-less guard movement here so we can Adjust this guard wherever we need to Without any tools just press this lever Here and rotate this around until it Clicks in the space you need it so Whether you're cutting maybe you've got A cutting wheel on there and you need to Be cutting like this you can open it That way or if you want to need it Straight on because you're doing just Some typical grinding you do that as Well you can also change the handle Which if you notice the handle Not only has got good ergonomics but it Also has some vibration dampening built Into there as well and we can go to Either side or we can go on the top as Well sometimes we need to get in a Certain place and it works out better if We can put that auxiliary handle or Secondary handle of the grinder up there On the top of the unit so we can easily Do that We get an arbor lock or a spindle lock Right here so we can press this let me Take the battery off and be able to do Our wheel changes now you can do that

With a spanner wrench or you know if You've got a gloved hand or You're tough enough you can just spin it Off by hand just by pressing that lock Button same thing with putting it back On Whether you're running a cutting wheel Or a grinding disc or a flap disc Whatever here on the sides we have the Intake and this is important here don't Let this fill up with crud and then Leave it that way this is how this Grinder breathes especially with Brushless motors nowadays these things Need to breed as well as there's lots of Electronics in here when you have a Brushless motor that need to stay cool And it picks up the air from here so There's a fan built onto this motor and It's drawing air in and it's drawing air In from right here from either side of These stainless steel mesh intakes and When it draws that air in it cools all The electronics it cools the motor it Even comes across and blows across this Transmission and exits the grinder right Up here so time to time pull off these These just slide right up blow them out With your air gun don't blow them in Where it blows into the electronics take Them off blow them out reverse ways put These back on and keep those nice and Clean so that the grind under will Breathe and it doesn't go into overload

Protection or you start ruining your Electronics now this runs on the Multi-volt battery this is the 36 volt And 18 volt battery these are actually 36 volt grinder so it's utilizing the 36 Volt side but these batteries will also Power the 18 volt tools as well Now on these Grinders a couple of really Cool features is the fact we get a speed Dial here so we can actually adjust the Maximum speed of this grinder so you can See on one [Applause] That's wide open and if I go to six Obviously a lot faster now we also have An auto mode so right here on the other Side of the tool we've got two buttons Here we've got an LED light button as Well as an auto mode if I go to auto Mode in the free willing or free Spinning when I pull the trigger It maxes out at 5500 RPM however when I Go to lean in and grind something it'll Pick up that speed as it's needed as it Fills the feedback it'll take up that Speed up too in this case with the Larger grinder this is going to be a Max Of 8 000 RPM and with the smaller four And a half inch that's a Max of 10 000 RPM so there's a there's one of the Differences there 10 000 RPM Max on the Four and a half inch 8000 RPM Max on the Uh the six inch however the auto mode is Going to be 5500 for both of these

And then our LED light mode here we have Uh two LEDs so we have an LED right here It shines forward and then one over here Too and we can set it on on off Where when you pull the trigger you Watch this led here LED comes on and then after I don't know Five or ten seconds it will actually Shut off so you can do that or you can Hit the on button where that will stay On so that while you're using it you Have light so there's you see it shut Off so if you turn it on the on setting Then it's just going to stay on and you Can shine some light on whatever area You're working on so not very typical on A grinder but you know what not a bad Idea so sometimes we're grinding in Those dark Corners so good to get a Little light in the situation now we do Get some electronic protection here on These tools really two specific ones one Is the kickback which I don't think it's A good term for Kickback because Typically kickback is kind of when it Kicks that way and that's not when it's Going to shut off it's got what they're Calling Kickback protection but Basically if you drop this grinder and Probably more so on a slide switch this One is a paddle switch both of these are Paddle switch but basically if the Wheels turning and under power and Immediately stops or slows down it's

Going to shut the tool down so in other Words it sense that either you've got it Bound up or it's dropped and hit Something and it will shut the grinder Off the other one is Restart protection meaning uh let's say For some reason and again this would be A big deal in a slide switch type of Grinder which they have this grinder and A slide switch as well but let's say so We're driving [Music] The battery comes out or I pull the Battery off and the and the switch is Still on or we've still got the paddle Pulled if I slide this battery back on It does not start the grinder I have to Release that and Pull It Again In order to operate that grinder and you Do see we get an electronic brake [Music] So it's stopping that wheel it doesn't Let it just Freewheel forever So let's look at the speeds on Zone as I mentioned this is the g3612 Dvf and this is the G 3615 d v f and if we look at speed One and speed two three four five six And this one we're going to get 3200 RPM 3 900 RPM 5300 RPM 7400 RPM 8000 RPM and 10 000 RPM now over here on Speed one we're going to get 3200 RPM so

The same on speed one but on Speed 2 We're going to get 3600 RPM it's a Little lower Speed 3 4 600 RPM 5600 RPM 7200 RPM and 8000 RPM on speed 6. So a little bit different speed settings On the speed dial obviously Auto as I Mentioned is a 5500 For both Now finally before we go use these One of the really cool things about the Metabo HPT platform especially in the in The multivolt is the fact that not only Do we get multi-volt batteries but also We can utilize this power adapter here So a grinder is a great example of this A grinder is a very power hungry tool So when you're using a cordless tool That's really power hungry you go Through batteries Cordless grinders are awesome for small Jobs and accomplishing things without Having to drag a cord around however if You get a longer job many times you're Grabbing a corded grinder but let's say All you have is your cordless grinder so You burn through two of your batteries And you're saying well I'm waiting Forever for it to charge that's where You can grab this adapter It slides into place right here And then you go run this cord over and Plug it into the wall and now you've got

An endless supply of power you can use This just like any other typical corded Grinder you the same amount of power Output but you're not stopping in your Tracks and waiting for something to Charge have a nice pivot here right here On the battery adapter and so now you're Ready to keep going and finish that job So really cool idea again for power Hungry tools So we've got a piece of true quarter Inch steel angle iron here chopped up on The uh on the cutting table and I'm just Going to take a cutting blade and I'm Going to turn this into auto mode And so we'll see the effect of it's Going to start somewhat slow about half Speed and then it should ramp up as we Get into the cut So that's wide open [Music] So pretty cool that it ramps that up Automatically as it senses that we're Getting into the cut I can adjust this guard rather easily [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Again you hear the low speed [Music] Pretty cool Otto I must say it's not something I've Used in the past much but I could see Where that could come in somewhat handy

Also like the fact that if we switch out Of Auto and let's say we're cutting Stainless steel I could slow this way Down Where I have a lot slower cutting speed Not something I want for structural Steel I could turn that all the way up And then get our full 10 000 RPM Foreign [Music] A ceramic disc And let's go and throw this in Auto Again There we go So you see low speed [Music] All right And the idea here is in a state when it Doesn't need all the power you're going To conserve battery by not having to Have It Wide Open versus if you just Went to your speed setting turn it all The way up [Music] Impressed with the power It does a really good job with the 36 Volt battery [Applause] Of being able to provide the power you Need for no problem beveling out this uh This quarter inch plus structural steel [Music] And now we'll grab the six inch Throw in on auto as well

I'm really digging in there and it's Still handling that so pretty impressed [Music] You can see I'm taking that grinding Wheel and literally using it like a Cutting wheel putting all that pressure On there and it's not backing down Foreign Nice Grinders we are very impressed with Both of these Grinders the fact that I Could really lay into this especially on The bigger one I thought I could really Stop that larger wheel because you have A lot more surface area there on the Outside to be able to bite into Something usually I can really stop it And I had to lean into it hard you saw Me literally cutting through quarter Inch steel with a grinding disc without It stopping the tool yes it bogged it Down a little but it held its own and Kept going we love the AC adapter on a Power hungry tool like this so if you're Doing those bigger jobs you can still Get completed now let's talk about Pricing on this uh the G 3612 is going To run you 199 dollars as a bare tool so No battery that's going to run you 199 Bucks and the 3650 is going to run you About 20 bucks more at 219 dollars now The adapter here is going to run a Hundred and twenty nine dollars so if You're looking to do those larger jobs This may be something that you want to

Buy into as well and then obviously Batteries if you want to buy a battery And charger I think they have a deal for 199 dollars for that which comes with The 18 volt 36 volt multi-volt battery As well as a charger now when you buy The tool you also get the gorgeous Carrying bag so you get that with it as Well so check these out we'll have links In the descriptions also keep track of Us on Instagram Facebook Twitter and Even Tick Tock if you don't mind if you Liked our video would you hit that like And subscribe button but if you hated Our video well give us a thumbs down but Let us know in the comments why have a Great day and keep smiling
