Do you need to step up to ridgid's 3/4 Inch impact [Music] [Music] Wrench rid just released this 3/4 in Impact wrench running on their 18vt Battery platform supposed to have up to 1300 foot-pounds of torque and it has Four modes on it so three speed modes And then an auto mode let's go ahead and Dive in and take a closer look at these Features and then of course we're going To use it and test it then we'll come Back and talk about the results talk About pricing and we'll tell what we Think of it this is the brand new Rigid R86 312 this is their 3/4 in high torque Impact wrench the 3/4 in Anvil is ready With both the friction ring so just Sockets are going to slide on there and Be retained by that friction ring but Also uh for heavy duty applications you Can still run a pin and o-ring as well So that hle is going all the way through There it's not a check ball or a detent Ball uh but it's actually a hole all the Way through so you can run those pin and O-rings on those more industrial sockets Now this is a four mode impact meaning We have uh four different speeds or four Different modes so really we have four Different modes we have three speed so One two and three that are progressively Uh going to get faster so when one we're

Going to have 0 to 600 RPM and then in Two or medium you're going to have 0 to 1300 RPM and then in high or speed three It's going going to be from 0 to 1,800 RPM we get a variable speed trigger Brushless motor so we can really dial in The amount of power speed that we want Just with the squeeze of the Trigger and then finally in the auto Mode and we'll go over what that auto Mode is this is going to have a Max of 1100 RPM so still variable speed so from Zero to 1100 RPM so it's a little bit Slower than ly in Speed 2 or medium Whatever you want to call that and then As far as the impacts per minute that's Going to be from 0 to 2200 in high it really doesn't State uh The the middle speeds uh but up to 2200 impacts per minute and again that's Going to vary depending on how much Power you're adding to it as well as uh What it's hitting on we get an LED light Here at the base of the Tool uh not Really a change like we've seen on some Of the other impacts where we're moving The light up here and surrounding the Anvil I would love to see uh that light To be up here to be either a o-ring or At least be a couple of three LEDs Around or surrounding the Anvil but Again at least we're getting an LED Light to at least shine a a little bit Of light almost those fasters when we're

Working in those shadowy or dark areas Now rigid claims that this has 1,300 Ft-lb of breakaway torque and up to 900 Ft-lb of fastening torque we'll Definitely check that to see how well it Does as I mentioned we get a brushless Motor and this is a pretty big tool and It should be it's a 3/4 inch high torque Impact and just to give you an idea Which by the way we have this kitted Right here with an 8 Amp Hour battery It's about 11 and 1/4 in tall a little Over 11 in to the peak and the length of The tool is right at 9 in just short of 9 in Long now as for the width of the Tool so about three a little over 3 and A/4 in so 3 and A3 so 3.36 in wide and We'll get a weight on this tool as well We'll weigh it with the 8 Amp Hour Battery that we have on It so we're on pound and ounces 8 lb 6 Oz and then without the Battery 6 lb 1/2 oz so kind of 6 lb as a Barar tool and a little over 8 lb with a 8 Amp Hour battery obviously a smaller Battery you're going to have less Weight now you should be able to order This now as a bare tool for $279 we really haven't seen it kitted With a battery although I think you can Buy a two battery kit with a charger for Like 99 bucks that would be the 4 amp Hour versions I would recommend on Something like this that you are using

The max output batteries those are going To deliver more amperage more power to The tool let's go over and see how well It does so we have the rigid 3/4 in high Torque over on the test bench going to Run some tests here we're going to take Our torque setting tool and we're going To start at 150 ft-lbs and then go to 200 300 400 500 600 700 800 900 1,000 And so on so we're going to jump in 100 Lb increments and then we'll see can we Break these loose uh with the 3/4 in Impact wrench so let's go ahead and get All these Set [Music] [Applause] Okay let's get started 150 foot PBS we're on speed three which is high Auto is not high three is high and we're In Reverse Okay I didn't figure we would have any Trouble getting to this point so we're Through 700 foot PB so 150 200 300 400 500 600 700 now we're on to 800 ft-lb And then 900,00 now we have these little indexing Marks on the socket so you can see this Turning and what we will do we will let This hammer on these Fasteners uh for up To 10 seconds if it hasn't started Moving by that 10sec range we shut it

Down it does not get that score uh but If it is moving within that 10 seconds Then we let it go ahead and finish Breaking that free and again those Indexing marks should help you see that As we're counting down on the screen as Well Okay through 1100 without an issue now We're going to stick to these larger Fasteners because they are the only ones That will handle 1,000 ft-lbs and over So while we're here since we need to Snug these back up let's shift over to The auto mode and see how that operates So I've got it in auto mode and Titan And I'll just hold the Trigger And you see it tightens to a point and Then I actually stop so my finger is Still in the trigger we'll try that Again finger on the trigger Now finger is still on the trigger so it Automatically shuts that down as soon as It recognizes that it's somewhat tight Now it does Hammer a few times so it's Not just a little bit it's actually you Know setting some torque on that faster Before it shuts it down now let's go Into reverse and see what happens when I Back it off Okay so same thing except it it was a Slow ramp up and then it shut it down Once it realized it was broken free Let's see if it actually starts back up

Again I'll keep my finger on the Trigger nope okay so my finger still in The trigger it actually shut the unit Down that's how I like them to operate Uh some of the others actually just slow Down for a second or stop for a second And then pick back up but this one it's A slow ramp up hits it pretty hard hard And then as soon as it fills it's broken Free then it actually stops [Applause] It Okay back to 1 12200 1300 1400 and 1500 Ft-lbs uh we still have oh three Cs on The battery let's see how far we Get we still have that in the auto mode As well let's take that Out [Applause] I am going to swap out the [Music] Battery I don't have another 8 Amp Hour But we'll stick on the 12 amp Hour make sure we're in Reverse and we're in speed Three 1,600 Ft-lbs Okay that took longer than 10 seconds But it was moving within that 10sec Mark Okay I think we may have something going On with this one here because it did Take so long these other two it broke Free much sooner uh so we may skip that

One in the next round and we'll just go To here at 2,000t lb then 2100 and 2200 all right here we are back again And we're going to start now at 2,000 Ft-lbs and then go to 2100 and 2200 Ft-lbs we're in speed three We are in Reverse here we Go again it was moving within 10 seconds So we let it Finish I would say that one was barely moving Within that 10-second Mark but it was Moving so we'll give it that we got 2100 On to 2200 And it looks like we have an overheating Problem let it rest see what we get okay So last we left this uh we had a Basically it went into an override or The tool actually shut down because it Got too hot put a new battery in it let It cool off for a little bit And we should be good uh we went ahead And charged up our 12 amp battery so We've got a full 12 amp hour battery we Are going to put it in high or speed Three and go but let's first we're going To loosen uh this bolt this Fastener Tighten it back down torque it back down To 2200 and then get Started Now we're pretty confident that after it Took so long to loosen the

2100 we've probably reached our limit Here although we do have now a freshly Charged battery and let's make sure We're in yeah we're in speed three with Our full battery and so let's see what We get keep an eye on those index marks On that Socket Wow once again I think we're right at That Mark of uh barely breaking this Free or it barely moving I did notice it Moving I had it indexed on a spot and Did notice that it moved before 10 Seconds so I just couldn't shut it down And say it didn't I will go ahead and We'll try to do 2300 but I'm pretty sure That's definitely our Peak right There okay so we're retorqued to 2300 Ftlb still a full Battery and here we Go So it did not do it in 10 seconds However as you can see it still broke it Free after I don't know 13 14 seconds it Started moving it uh but definitely a Strong hitting impact the 3/4 inch Anvil Definitely Helps you can see the damage that's Already happening on this brand new Socket starting in the mushroom out by The Anvil but not near as bad as when You look It like the same size socket but with a/ Inch

Anvil so so much better when you're Looking for torque output like this to Step up to a 3/4 in output or 3/4 in Anvil Breaking Free 2200 ft-lbs on these Fasters this thing's definitely no Slouch and if you're looking for numbers Like that or you're working on trucks All the time and you're at the upper Limits of your high torque impact wrench Especially if you're an a/ inch I highly Recommend you stepping up to a 3/4 in or 1 in drive it's just much less wear on Sockets and accessories and even on the Impact act itself you've got a larger Mass that's rotating and hitting on a Larger surface so you're going to have Less of this Mushroom so you're going to have less of This mushrooming effect uh around the Anvil area of the socket so your sockets Are going to last longer and you're Probably going to be happier because That larger amount of mass is probably Going to break that faster free much Faster as well pricing on this as we Stated is $279 for the bare tool um and Then you can get this rubber boot I Think it's $ 35 or $40 so if you want to Protect it not get it banged up you can Get this warranty on this you'll get the Lifetime service agreement if you Actually uh register the tool within 90 Days of purchase so I highly recommend You doing that I did want to comment on

Something I mentioned about wanting to See a surrounding light around the Anvil However on a tool like this when you're Getting into larger sockets have to kind Of take that back a little bit it Wouldn't be a bad thing at the same time Once you get in larger socket you would See that if the light were surrounding Here it's probably just going to create A shadow because it's going to shine Right into the socket itself so probably Not of great importance if you're using Those larger sockets to have that led Moved up here and having the LED down Here is absolutely fine the auto mode Works very well as well actually Stopping the impact on loosen and Titan Once it recognizes that it's tight and Once it recognizes that it's loose it Actually stops the tool so I really like Uh that type type of feature in when They say in auto mode or bolt removal Mode things like that I like to see the Tool actually stop and stay sto I'll let Go and grab the trigger again it will Start up again hey check it out for Yourselves it's already available uh Also keep track of us on Instagram Facebook Twitter and even Tik Tok and if You don't mind would you hit that like And subscribe button if you haven't done So already and by all means if you hated Our video well give us a thumbs down but Would you let us know in the comments
