Are you in the market for a stealth Vacuum and we're not talking invisible This is the DeWalt stealth Sonic shop Vac now this is a 12 gallon vacuum 5.5 Peak horsepower and it's supposed to be 50 percent quieter than other shop vacs And we're going to test that to find out Now let's dig in and we'll check out the Details and the specifications on this Vacuum and then we're going to use it in Several different areas we're even going To do a water lift test and then we'll Come back and talk about what we think Of it as well as pricing and warranty This is the DeWALT model number Dxv12p and it's their 12 gallon stealth Sonic wet dry shop vac now what is Stealth Sonic well it means it's much Quieter than most other shop vacs than Probably all other shop vacs in fact They say it's 50 percent quieter but That of course is going to depend on Which vacuum you are comparing it Against but it is a very quiet vacuum Especially for the five and a half Horsepower output It actually produces as well as the 12 Gallon capacity and we'll be testing Some of both of those here in just one Moment but let's talk about what we get With the vacuum first off we have I Believe that's a two and a half inch Output or suction side check that really Quick

Yes I would I would call that uh yeah two and a half On the outside there so two and a half Inch hose love to see the cord wrap Right away have a large handle up here And the cord are wrapping around that Early on it felt like shop vacs just Forgot all about their hose and their Cord and that people would want to do Something other than just have it Dragging around so electrical cord wrap Up here and then have a rubber strap Right here I'm assuming that will strap Up the hose and we'll show that here in A moment as well large locking handles Here on the side just unlock the two and Pull the whole top off and then here on The back we have an integrated bag as Well a a canvas or nylon bag that will Hold all of the accessories or the Majority of the accessories and we get Several with the VAC so including the Bag so it just kind of slides into holes Back here where a handle could go as Well but in this case we're actually Putting an accessory bag to keep all the Junk out of the way while we use this Now when you get this vacuum The majority of the stuff will be inside So it comes with the pleated filter you Can also opt to get a high efficiency Filter actually I think this is the high Efficiency filter but you can also opt To get a HEPA filter as well

And inside the container of the tank in Here more accessories As well as the two and a half inch hose And I believe that's a seven foot hose Yeah that's a seven foot two and a half Inch hose And we even get A bag maybe a couple of bags here yeah So we get uh looks like three bags in Here But we're giving you a good tip on these Here in just a moment and then you see The inside of the large 12 gallon Container now if we need to pull this Filter off very easy to do so just turn It about a quarter turn And it comes right off Put it back on or clean it up whatever You need to quarter turn locks into Place and we're good to go so no uh Screwing on a bunch of turns very easy To put that filter on Oh set the hood in place Lock the tabs and we're good to go the Cord up here is a 20 foot cord and as we Mentioned it's going to wrap around that Large handle very easily it's not going To be too cramped and clip it back on Itself and it stores that 20 foot cord Very well on that handle and that handle Is still available for lifting and very Easy maneuverability also have a large Water resistant switch as well easy to Turn on easy to turn off we get four

Rotating casters and these are Rubberized Wheels I believe they're two Two and a half inch two and a quarter Inch look like about two and a quarter Inch diameter rubberized wheel so they Have a nice soft feel to them they're Not just a hard plastic that's going to Scrape across the floor and they all Swivel as well as well as you see the Drain there or the dump for the canister So if you are sucking up some liquid Then it's easy to drain that as well as I believe yet there is a rubber ring in There to actually seal Just make sure you keep the dirt out of There and it should seal very well Let's roll this out of the way and take A look at the other accessories we get So in addition to the seven foot two and A half inch hose We get two extension ones that are it's Like 20 and a half inches long So two of those and then we get a Crevice tool that looks like it's about A foot long ten and a half inches long And then we get a brush tool with a 45 Degree angle as well as a small floor Tool and even a large vacuum tool with The brushes on it so great for sweeping The floor So we get all those with the vacuum and As I mentioned we get three of the Filter bags as well and the seven foot By two and a half inch hose and it's

Locking on the end that hooks to the Vacuum so you don't have to worry about Pulling that out if you're actually Pulling it from the hose Okay we've got our vacuum plugged in Now let's clip on our hose and as I Mentioned it locks right here so you can Pull on this it's not going to pull out But still easy very easy to unlock Okay so I'm gonna turn this thing on but First I wanted to show you so I'm Talking I kind of talk loud so looks Like on my Neo sound level meter I'm Somewhere around 83.84 And I'll quiet down so you can just hear The ambient noise Looks like it's somewhere right around 52 there's a small fan going behind me a Ways but it's not very loud at all Let's turn the vacuum on So I think they're claiming 65 but I'm Right next to the vacuum And it's showing 6768 and by the way When when you actually do this you Shouldn't have anything where the sound Can actually bounce off which got a Metal pegboard behind us a toolbox to The left of us so we're getting a lot of Reverberation as well So a very quiet vacuum especially next To uh to my voice okay here's what I'm Going to do what we have in here is just The pleated filter that it comes with no Bag and it's empty we haven't really

Used it much We're going to do a test we're going to Suck up some uh I believe some Ash and Some wood chips a little wet a little Dry anyway we're going to do show Sucking all that up probably a five Gallon bucket full and then we're going To clean it up and try something out but First let's let's do that we'll move This here to the side a little bit Now here's my bucket of wood chips which By the way uh we were actually cutting a Tree and so that's a lot of wood chips And you see some grass in there and then You actually see some ash in there from A fire that we burnt which will simulate The fine dust of like a drywall or Concrete dust as well So no problem sucking up that five Gallon or probably four and a half Gallon yeah four and a half gallons of Burning Ash as well as wood chips Out of that bucket so five gallons gone In just a few moments now let's check Out the inside of the vacuum So it looks like we have a mess going on Yeah so basically with just the filter Pretty typical what we find in any Shop-Vac situation Is that yes it picked up all that junk But it's probably taking away the life Of our filter rather quickly Because yes we can clean that out blow It out and reuse it and that's great but

At some point this will be clogged Enough we'll have to replace it and Probably nobody's going to change it or Knock it out or clean it until it starts Really sucking terrible and then you get Into you know messing up the life of Your vacuum anyway my point is we have a Filthy filter Okay it looks like we've recovered most Of our mess there some of it's probably Been compressed a little but for the Most part we've recovered everything Now we've cleaned out our filter the Best we could quickly anyway and let's Put it back on here Now instead of just putting the power Head and filter back on we're going to Put in A dust bag here now it just lays in here Like this And then this part here Just pushes right over the top Of that spout Is that rubber hose seals it we turn That on that bag will expand in there So make sure you get it nice and Flattened out The filter will go in the middle of it Lock down our clamps and we're good to Go okay we'll hook up our hose And now we'll run this test again Foreign Now let's again take the power head off And look how clean that filter is

Now yes there's still some residual From the last time that you see when I Banged this out before I made a whole Mountain of mess and now basically what I'm getting is just the residual that I Didn't get off From the last time So you see that's all I'm getting out of The filter so where did all of it go Let's take a look in the canister Take a look in here Our canister is clean as well so Everything went in here in this dust bag The cool thing about this is So then you take this out you go throw It away and now you can replace it And your canister is all clean which Again that's just the residual from the Last time before we use the bag so what It does it keeps your canister clean Definitely prolongs your filter so it Stays clean as well and especially if You're running a HEPA filter highly uh Advised to run a the best efficient bag Filter you can because again it's going To keep everything nice and tidy and of Course trap everything in the bag now You can't do that with wet stuff but any Dry stuff shop cleanup dust extraction Concrete drywall that's a great addition To the filter And they're not that expensive either You can get multi-packs that will Definitely save you money all right now

Let's test the wet capacity here we're Going in with no filter I'd say that's pretty quick clean up Now let's see if it'll take a second Bucket Now I know they say it's a 12 gallon Vacuum but many times that doesn't mean The actual liquid capacity so we're Going to go ahead and see if we can't Get a second bucket in there Foreign Okay so it looks like right at probably Nine gallons is the full wet capacity Because once I got to the bottom it quit Sucking but very fast at pulling that Water in Now what we have here is a manometer We're going to check the water lift on This vacuum and this is a manometer or Otherwise known as a YouTube meter not Like YouTube where you go to watch Videos but you as in the letter U and Two meaning you looking like uh you can See the water line or the piping that we Have here that goes down makes a u and The bottom is filled with a red dye Fluid that's just basically water and Food colorings all that is and then you Can see above where the actual water is Resting is at zero and that's very Important that that's sitting at zero And then as we turn the suction on we'll Hook the vacuum up to one end the other End is actually open to the atmosphere

So it's just vented and we'll actually See The red water rise and we're going to Take a measurement now if those numbers Look shorter than inches it's because They are it's really like a two to one Because what we're actually measuring is The difference in the water column so Not just what the rise is but the rise And the drop so if this Rises five Inches which would be to this 10 then It's dropping 5 inches over there so Really we're getting 10 inches of water Lift so that's why this is not really 10 Inches it's five inches but it's 10 Inches of water lift so we've got this At zero so any suction we have I'm Assuming we're going to be at the top of The scale especially when we have a Clean filter in there without the bag Okay let's first get our filter back on Here Let's hook up our hose Now we're going to take the other end of The tube And stick it right here in our vacuum And just to make sure we've got a good Seal A little duct tape to make sure Now once I turn this vacuum on we'll see The column rise and get to a point and Just stay there Thank you So you see it settles in right at about

76 inches of lift then as the vacuum Turns off you see the water column Balance to zero again I'm going to take the filter off And just see if we can increase Our suction That's interesting we actually got to Tick less at like 75 inches of lift with The filter off the DeWalt stealth Sonic Did very well on picking up liquids no It didn't pull a full 12 gallon capacity Or 12 gallons of water that's pretty Typical on shop vacs they may be rated At 12 gallons but typically that's for Dry goods so if you're sucking up you Know sawdust you'd be able to you know Pack it out at 12 gallons where in the Water once it gets up to a certain Suction it's going to pull that in and It's actually going to trip and it's Actually going to shut the vacuum off so It doesn't break something and that's Exactly what we did at about nine Gallons between nine and ten gallons it Actually tripped that float meter and Shut the vacuum off once we drained it Out it started right back up no problem So about nine gallons of water and it Sucked it up very fast and then as well As the filter did a great job at Filtering out the Ash and the sawdust or The wood chips from the from the Chainsaw and even better highly Recommend you using a filter bag that's

Going to keep that filter clean as well As your canister clean but by me means When you're sucking up that liquid make Sure you take out that bag and even drop That filter you can buy also a HEPA Filter so if you're getting into that Really fine dust such as concrete and Drywall and you're concerned about that You can run a bag as well as a HEPA Filter to make sure that you're Filtering out that 99.9 percent of Airborne particles now on the manometer We got right at you know 76 inches of of Water lift and in fact earlier on uh in The morning of testing we actually get Got almost 80 inches and that was before We used it on any dust or any dirt or Anything like that so it might have been Just because it was completely clean uh It might have been because of the air Density was better in the morning Regardless I didn't want to let you know That so we got anywhere from 76 to 80. We continued to test after uh After Rolling camera and we continued to get Right at that 76 Mark regardless whether We're running a filter or no filter Pricing on this is a hundred and and 39 Dollars if you buy it at Lowe's we've Seen other places where it's a little Bit higher so we recommend if you if you Want the best price look at lows for 139 Bucks and you'll get a three year Warranty on this as well so check it out
