If you’re looking for a ratchet that Offers the best working arc swing the Zero degree ratchet came out on top at 17.5 passes however the gearwrench and The icon pro finished in a close second At 18 passes mactool is 18.5 and we’re 18.7 a ratchet with a lot of back drag Really makes removing and installing Fasteners and tight spaces a challenge At times if there’s enough space you can Use your finger to apply some pressure On the side of the socket to allow the Ratchet to advance but that’s not always An option let’s test the back drag using A 7 8 in socket fishing line and a scale And a performance tool ratchet needs 698 Grams of pressure to rotate the socket And the pittsburgh seems very loose Compared to the other brands and that Really helped it in this test at 148 Grams just like the pittsburgh the ares Seems very loose and it has a very low Back drag pressure of just 238 grams the Sata performed better on the working arc Swing tests in the ar-es and it has a Higher back drag pressure at 288 grams The cobalt has the highest back drag Pressure yet at 388 grams and the Craftsman is very stiff at 729 grams the Husky requires a lot less pressure than The craftsman at 389 grams the dewalt is Even stiffer than the craftsman at 799 Grams the zero degree performed very Well in the working arc swing test and

It performed greatness test 2 at 298 Grams the gearwrench tied for second Place in the working arc swing test and It performed extremely well in this test As well at 209 grams the milwaukee seems Stiffer than average and has a back drag Pressure of 499 grams the williams Performed about the same as the Milwaukee at 497 grams the tekken Performed about the same as the Milwaukee on the working arc swing test But the tekken performed a lot better on This test at 278 grams the icon pro tied To gearwrench on the working arc swing Test but the icon didn’t perform as well On this test at 669 grams the wearer Performed very well in this test at 298 Grams the sk tools has a pretty high Back drag pressure at 609 grams the Snap-on performed almost identical to The williams at 499 grams of pressure The mac tools has a lower back drag Pressure than the snap-on at 398 grams a Ratchet that offers both a great arc Swing performance as well as the low Back drag pressure is a perfect Combination the harbor freight icon Performed very well on the working arc Swing test but it does have quite a bit Of back drag pressure on the other hand The gearwrench finished in second place On this test and also performed very Well in the working arc swing test a Great combination for working in tight

Spaces the zero degree and the wearer Ratchets also did a great job on the arc Swing test and finished in sixth and Seventh place on this test ratchet head Size makes a big difference when trying To access tight spaces the gear inch has A shortest front to back profile at just Under 11 millimeters the sata is also Compact at 12.8 sk tools 13.4 we’re at 13.5 and husky 13.7 millimeters the Ratchet with the slimmest side to side Profile is a gearwrench at 25 Millimeters the dewalt sk tools we’re Mac tools craftsman and tech 10 are also Pretty narrow at under 30 millimeters if Your hands are greasy or oily it can Sometimes be a challenge to change Directions with a stiff directional Lever and the performance tool is Extremely stiff at 1561 grams or almost three and a half Pounds of pressure and the pittsburgh Pro is very easy to work with at only 187 grams the ares performed about the Same as the pittsburgh pro at 199 grams And the sata takes 227 grams of pressure To change directions the directional Lever on the cobalt is easy to work with At 217 grams and the craftsman is pretty Stiff at 431 grams or about twice the Pressure as most of the other ratchets And the husky is extremely stiff at 653 Grams or about 1.5 pounds of pressure The dewalt is about as stiff as a husky

At 611 grams changing directions with a Zero degree requires 446 grams of Pressure or about one pound the Gearwrench is very easy to work with at Only 181 grams the milwaukee is also Pretty easy to work with at 226 grams Changing directions with the williams Requires 314 grams of pressure the Tekken is pretty stiff at 421 grams the Icon pro is about the same as the Williams at 326 grams the wearer takes a Little bit more force than the icon at 364 grams and the sk tools takes quite a Bit of effort to change directions at 970 grams and the snap-on takes 503 Grams of pressure and the mac tools Takes about 100 grams less pressure than The snap-on at 408 grams the directional Switch on the gearwrench is very easy to Work with at 181 grams however the Pittsburgh pro performed almost the same At 187 grams ar es 199 cobalt 217 in Milwaukee 226 grams when considering Working arc swing back drag size of the Ratchet head and directional switch Pressure the gear wrench is pretty Amazing but the real question is can i Handle the higher torque loads compared To those ratchets with bigger heads or Bigger price tags to test the failure Load of the ratchets i’ll use the proto Torque wrench tester which is accurate Down to 1 10 of a foot pound and the Performance tool ratchet gave up early

At only 58.4 foot pounds the ratchet Head began stretching before the drive Finally broke the ratchet head is made Of pretty soft metal and there’s a lot Of damage the pittsburgh has a pretty Large handle so i’m going to have to use A really large cheater pipe And the pittsburgh handle is a little Bit bent at 246.5 foot-pounds and the Pittsburgh lost a little bit of strength On the first attempt and the drive broke This time at 239.4 foot-pounds the gear Experienced some damage but the paws Held up just fine and aris made it to 267.2 pounds to 21 foot pounds better Than the pittsburgh and the ratchet Experience the same failure as the Pittsburgh with the drive breaking where It attaches to the gear and the teeth on The drive gear are still in great shape But there’s some damage to one of the Pawls And the sata made it to 258 foot-pounds Before the drive broke the gear in the Pawl held up just fine and the cobalt’s Going to be very difficult to beat at a Very impressive 285.9 foot-pounds when The drive broke the directional switch Ejected itself however the teeth on the Gear and nepal are still in great shape And the craftsman stubby can take quite A bit of torque making it to 262.1 Foot-pounds i accidentally hit some of The damaged teeth with the angle grinder

But the unground teeth experienced a lot Of damage the pawl also experienced some Damage and the husky performed very well But it came up a little bit short of the Cobalt at 283 283.4 foot pounds the Drive broke but the gear and the paws Held up just fine and the ratchet head On the dewalt is a little bit more Compact than the previous brands and the Dewalt gave up at 230.8 foot-pounds or About 55-foot pounds less than the Cobalt just like the other brands the Drive was a source of failure and a zero Degree made it to 250.9 foot-pounds a Lot more than i expected just like most Of the other brands the drive was a Source of failure instead of using a Gear and a pile design the zero degree Uses several steel pins that fit into Slots unfortunately the high torque load Did cause some damage to several areas Of the plastic i had to stop the test on The gearwrench temporarily at 262.6 foot Pounds to straighten out the handle the Handle is straight so let’s try it again And the very compact gearwrench is also The strongest yet at a very impressive 286.2 foot-pounds to take the lead from The cobalt the drive on the gearwrench Broke but the gear and nepal are still In great shape and the milwaukee ratchet Seems to be built just as well as the Milwaukee power tools i’ve tested 312 Foot-pounds very impressive and the

Drive broke but the gears and the pawl Are still in great shape and the Williams performed very well at 273.5 Foot pounds the drive snapped but the Gear and nepal are still in great shape And the tekken performed almost the same As the williams at 273.8 foot-pounds the Drive broke and the teeth on the gear Experienced some damage and the icon pro Is up there with the husky in the Gearwrench with a very respectable 284.5 Foot pounds the pile is still in great Shape but there’s a couple of teeth on The gear that have a small amount of Damage the rear is almost as compact as The gearwrench but it’s not nearly as Strong 202.7 foot-pounds the drive held Up just fine but the gear in nepal Experienced quite a bit of damage and The sk tools broke a 267.9 foot pounds Which is very close to average for the Ratchets and the drive broke but the Gear in nepal held up just fine and 129 Dollar snap-on snapped off at 295 Foot-pounds which is good enough to move Into second place behind the milwaukee And the gear on the snap-on held up just Fine but the paws experienced some Damage and the mac tools broke a 251.3 Foot pounds other than the broken handle The ratchet held up just fine and the Milwaukee is heavier and larger than Average but it’s also by far the Strongest at 312.9 foot-pounds snap-on

Finished in second at 295.4 foot-pounds The gearwrench is the most compact Ratchet in the lineup but it still Outlasted most of the larger ratchets Finishing in third at 286.2 foot-pounds Cobalt finished at 285.9 in icon pro 284.5 foot-pounds the ratchets are Organized from least expensive the most Expensive and the gearwrench easily won This showdown earning an a-plus in every Category it’s also a great value at Around 34. if i had to buy just one Ratchet the gearwrench would definitely Be it the harbor freight icon performed Just as well as the gearwrench in the Working arcswing test but it’s less Compact and not quite as refined as the Gearwrench in several categories if You’re looking for a very affordable and Good value ratchet why not consider the Sata it outperformed many more expensive Ratchets i’m really impressed with the Gearwrench i’m surprised at just how Well it performed compared to some of The more expensive brands and also when You consider just how compact the Ratchet is it performed extremely well All the videos in this channel including This one our viewer suggested so if you Have a video idea i hope you’ll take Time to leave a comment thanks so much For watching please take care and look Forward to next time
