We put the Masterforce 20V Brushless 4-1/2″ Ultra Compact Circular Saw through the paces to find out what it’s really made of. We were impressed with the power it delivers in such a small package. This is a great saw for cutting quick cuts in sheet goods as well as 2x dimensional lumber. When it comes to bevel cuts, you only get a 1-inch depth of cut at a 45-degree angle, so sheet goods only when beveling. You can get the MasterForce compact circular saw at Menards for less than $100.

We know it's small and Nimble but can it Be powerful and get the work done as Well This is the master Force Ultra compact 20 volt brushless four and a half inch Circular saw let's Dive Right In and Then we'll come back and talk about Pricing warranty and what we think of it This is the master Force 20 volt Brushless four and a half inch Ultra Compact circular saw now the model Number on this is the 241-0344 now this runs on the 20 volt Master Force platform we have the 4 amp Hour that we'll be reviewing it today This comes as a bare tool very cheap by The way or very inexpensive so a lot of Great features here especially the fact We're even getting a brushless tool so Four and a half inch saw so small four And a half inch and it comes with a 24 Tooth blade here we'll install this in Just a moment as you can see a blade the Left design so it's going to give those Right-handers great access to the cut Line and obviously maneuverability ease Ease of use everything else from the Ultra compact design here but again Blade left so replacing blades is going To mean that you're going to have a Reverse thread so righty Lucy Lefty tidy And we'll go over that here in one Moment now max depth of cut is one and Five eighths of an inch due to the small
Blade size obviously now we do have up To a 45 degree bevel cut if we want to Cut bevels however that's just going to Be in our sheet good so max depth of cut Of one and five eighths of an inch is Perpendicular or 90 degrees as we see it Set up here so that's going to cut Through your two by fours and two by Material for no with no problem however At a 45 degree angle you're going to Have less depth of cut and so at that Angle we're going to have a one inch Depth of cut so fine for your sheet Goods but just not going to cut through Your two by Lumber so your one buys Things like that you'll be fine at a 45 And your sheet Goods you should be fine But just not on your two by material now We do have a stand attempt a foot here a Stamp base plate for a inexpensive saw Like this that's what I would expect I'm Not expecting to see magnesium here or Anything like that we're talking low Cost here we're also talking Maneuverability and just the ease of Using a tool like this this is kind of That quick and easy type of Saw to make Quick Cuts take up at least amount of Space and to save you some money be Economical we do have a rafter hook here And it's big enough to hang on any two By material as well so floor joists Ceiling ceiling Rafters things like that Gonna be no problem hanging those
Hanging on your ladder or saw horse what Have you we also get a dust port on here I doubt most users using a saw like this Going to use the dust Port but just so You know looks like a 7 8 inch 875 000 So 7 8 of an inch and should be about 22 Millimeters as far and that's going to Taper down on the closer to the outside As well down to 21 Or a little less than seven eight seven Inch as well so again that's giving you The size there if you do want to hook up Your dust extractor get a spindle lock On here so when we're changing blades we Can just push that and lock out the Spindle now Max RPM on this saw is 6500 RPM and with the pull of the trigger we Also get an LED light that's going to Shine down on the blade at least in Front of the blade right there to try to Give us a better eye as to what we're Cutting we'll see how well that works Here in just one moment now I did notice One thing on the on the base plate we do Get a 45 degree sight line as well as a Zero degree or 90 degree sight line we Don't see a sight line in the back I do Wish there was a notch or something that Would line up our zero and 45 in the Back again not critical on a saw like This just when I see base plates I like To see something in the back that kind Of verifies that you're still on the Right plane or right on the right track
When you're cutting down a straight line So not a huge drawback but just wanted To point that out so I'm going to take Our allen wrench here and again we're Going to go Right hand turn to loosen Foreign And pull your washer off your outside Washer off And make sure your blades at your and Make sure that your battery is off as Well Don't want any mishaps going on So we've got our blade on rafter hook Down now we can go and use this and see How well it works I did want to point out one more thing Before we make some cuts the depth of Cut adjustments right here there's a Little plastic thumb screw probably not The easiest thing if it's really tight But again on a saw like this I'm not Expecting you know all the greatest Bells and whistles so not too tough to Get to unscrew that or loosen it up and Then you can set your depth of cut I'm Just going to set it at the max depth of Cut of one and five eighths of an inch Tighten that down not too tight and Throw the battery on We've got a 404 amp hour battery And let's go okay so here is my zero Degree cut line right there I can easily See that
Put it on my line line up my blade and Let's give her a rip Foreign As a right-hander handle the saw no Problem I can see my sight line right There uh sight line in front of me as Well as I can actually see blade on the Line as well easily from the left hand Side as a right-hander let's remove this Light here And let's see how much light we're going To get from the LED light So not bad we're definitely getting some Light right there on the front of the Saw blade I don't want to get too close There I've got a a battery in there but We can see the LED light shining there And there you see it go off so it is Aiding us and making sure that we do Have some light on that cut line at the Blade also there's supposed to be a Blower that's keeping the dust clear From that as well and you can see that There is no dust right there in front of The blade so it is keeping that nice and Free of any debris and it's also Ejecting quite a bit out the dust Port As well So in a three-quarter inch OSB not a lot Of problem in in cutting can I push it And bog it a little bit yes but again For a saw like this making quick and Nimble Cuts I think it works very well Let's cut this at a 45 and see how we do
I'm going to go right here Turn this all the way to 45 Okay now we're at a 45 degree angle Cutting this three-quarter inch sheeting And that's going to give us a lot more Surface area and contact with the blade So it's probably going to provide a lot More bog let's see how it does And now we're going to use our 45 degree Sight line And make sure our blades lining up as Well Really not bad at all moving along Pretty well I'm not pushing hard hearing A little bit of a bog but it's cutting Through absolutely fine So I did push quite hard right there did Get it to bog uh so I'm going to slow it Back down again Not bad at all in cutting that 45 degree Bevel and now we've still got our max Depth of cut we'll make a couple of cuts In some two by material as well All right Let's make sure that we're all the way Down Okay my base plate must have not been All the way down to the bottom so you Can see in two by No problem cutting that either as a Performer this is quite impressive for a Four and a half inch saw the brushless Motor definitely pushes through uh the Sheet material with not much problem
Could I get it to stall absolutely which I can with any four and a half inch saw I've used but it if you just but if you Just let it run its course and let it Motor through it does absolutely fine Cutting through sheet Goods even at a 45 Degree angle will it cut two by fours Yes you just have to make sure that the Base plate is all the way down so you Get that max depth of cut and it will Cut through two by fours two by sixes Two by material with no problem you're Not going to get any bevel on a two by Material but your sheet Goods your fine At beveling you know one inch and under As well as your two by fours with your Straight cuts and your two by material You're going to be absolutely fine Pricing on this is 99 from Menards and I Believe you can get an eleven dollar Rebate which breaks it down to like 88 Bucks so very cheap for the amount of Performance that that you're getting out Of this in a very handy saw to have you Can get a 2 Amp Hour battery and a Charger for like 70 something dollars From Menards as well if you're new to The platform so all in you're still less Than 200 bucks when they saw a battery And a charger if you want to step up to The 4 amp hour battery the 4 amp hour Battery along is going to cost you uh Nearly eighty dollars and then step up To a dual Port charger if you're buying
Into more of the master Force 20 volt Brushless tools you may want to step up To a dual Port charger so you can charge Those batteries uh more at a time and That's going to cost you somewhere Around that 80 range as well three year Warranty on this saw from Master force From Menards so check it out for Yourselves also keep track of us on Instagram Facebook Twitter and even Tick Tock and if you don't mind hit that like And subscribe button if you haven't done So already and by all means if you hated Our video well give us a thumbs down but Would you let us know in the comments Why have a great day keep smiling thank You
